CCBC ANNUAL PRESTIGE GALA DINNER

THURSDAY 24th OCTOBER 2019

SUN ARENA, TIME SQUARE

ABOUT THE CCBC PRESTIGE GALA DINNER 2019

The CCBC Prestige Gala Dinner – one of the high-profile business events within the Capital City – is specifically aimed at bringing together key role players to celebrate achievements created from hard work, collaboration and dedication on all levels.

The Capital City Business Chamber (CCBC) welcomes all Partners as our Guests to the annual CCBC Prestige Gala 2019 where this year our focus will be on “Promoting the Capital”. This event is highly regarded and includes high profile attendees from within: Business; Government; Diplomatic Society; Professionals; Academia, Research Institutions and Media.

On the evening the CCBC will specifically honour Entrepreneurship within the informal Sector; a recognized essential part of our economy with a huge contribution towards sustainability and job creation. The Author of the book KasiNomics, White Zulu GG Alcock will be the Keynote Speaker at this year’s event to unveil the hidden factors of the KasiNomics Revolution unknown to most of us.

The Business Sector is undoubtfully regarded as the driver of economic growth – the evening will therefore be dedicated to “Saluting the Entrepreneur” for their vision, tenacity and perseverance in realising their dreams and goals. The CCBC Business Excellence Awards form an integral part of the evening and will be awarding entrepreneurs for outstanding performance and achievements throughout the year.

The Business Competition, adjudicated by PwC and Business Partners, will involve four key Business Sectors within the City, namely:

  • Manufacturing
  • Tourism
  • Property & Infrastructure
  • Business Services.

Jason Kieck Designs will presents their Annual Charity Couture Collection as part of the CCBC Gala dinner.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

GG Alcock is a successful entrepreneur and the well-known author of the KasiNomics book, where “kasi” meaning “township” economics, focused on the scale and the opportunities posed by the informal sector to the economy generally. GG’s book KasiNomic Revolution – The Rise of African Informal Economies focuses on case studies; identifying the revolution taking place in the informal sector – multiple of businesses responding to SA’s massive unemployment problem.

KasiNomics is a sector “built on typical African township entrepreneurial value and it’s applying culturally connected offerings to people within those environments which often the formal sector doesn’t get or doesn’t understand or doesn’t know how to supply”.

GG was raised in a mud hut in one of the most poverty stricken and violent parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Msinga. GG’s community activist parents Neil and Creina Alcock raised their two sons in a Zulu community living in a hut with no running water, electricity or modern conveniences, instead growing up like young Zulu’s hunting and herding in the hills. Home schooled, GG is fluent in Zulu and intimate with local African cultures while also conversant in many other South African ethnic languages.
